“The game plan” is a Project created & curated by west philadelphia Artist Serena Saunders that pays homage to Coach Dawn Staley’s BASKETBALL MASTERY

with a workshop series for Black girls, through the lens of art, that has been inspired by the discipline, values, and principles that have helped to shape and define this world champion from 25th & Diamond Street.

FLY & FIT

This workshop is where passion and fashion collide. Here, girls will explore deeper topics related to identity and self-expression. Style and empowerment are not just about clothes—it's about understanding who you are, breaking free from societal expectations, and learning to represent yourself boldly and authentically. This will be an unforgettable experience of self-discovery, creativity, and confidence for Black girls. We will work on intentional goal setting as well as personal presentation. Whether you’re an aspiring WNBA star, you simply like fashion, or are just curious about how to style yourself confidently, the FLY & FIT workshop checks all of those boxes.

ALL IN

Is a workshop where Black girls who want to discover the true essence of teamwork and the power of collaboration thrive. In the Team Spirit: All-Star Team Challenge, girls will dive into the concepts of team dynamics, effective communication, and collective success. ALL IN will culminate in a thrilling team-based painting competition where girls will race against time to see who can complete their artwork first. The All- Star Team Challenge is more than just a fun competition; it's an opportunity to develop essential life skills, make new friends, and experience the joy of collective achievement. This will be a memorable day of learning, creativity, and teamwork.

TAKE THE SHOT

Girls, get ready to combine your passion for basketball with your creative side. This exclusive workshop encompasses a unique blend of athletic and artistic activities. Girls will enjoy playing basketball and then have the opportunity to design their custom basketballs using a variety of paints and artistic supplies. Whether you're dribbling on the court or painting your masterpiece, TAKE THE SHOT offers a supportive and fun environment to connect with other Black girls who share your interests. Don't miss out on this empowering and creative experience — after all, you will miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

FOR THE CULTURE

This workshop is a branding collaboration competition with a music and sports foundation. Within “the culture” each of us are brands individually, and have the opportunity of collaborating with those around us in our interdependent worlds. During this session girls will learn what it means to work together, from creating playlists for the various activities to how to use music in the digital marketing world of sports, this will be a team challenge around branding and combining our strengths. The intention of FOR THE CULTURE is finding the fun in collaboration and how Black girls positively influence one another.

PRACTICE

A rejuvenating and enlightening workshop designed to promote the mental and physical well-being of young Black girls. This Mind & Body: Wellness Workshop focuses on the importance of maintaining both mental and physical health, how these aspects are interconnected with sports, and how they impact daily life. This session includes a discussion on holistic wellness followed by engaging in calming activities like yoga in a serene environment. PRACTICE is more than just a session; it’s a step towards a healthier, more balanced life. Whether you’re new to wellness practices or looking to deepen your knowledge, our time together will offer valuable insights and activities for every Black girl. What an opportunity to discover the power of wellness, learn effective health practices, and connect with like-minded peers in a nurturing environment!

POST UP:
Post-Game Interview Panel

Step into the spotlight for the grand finale of our empowering workshop series! Our Beyond the Game: Post-Game Interview Panel has been exclusively designed for young Black girls to celebrate their journey through THE GAME PLAN Workshop Series, focusing on basketball culture and personal growth. This final session will transform into a dynamic post-game interview where participants will sit on a panel, sharing their experiences, insights, and reflections with their peers, friends, and family. POST UP is more than just a conclusion; it's a celebration of your journey, a platform to voice your experiences, and an opportunity to inspire and be inspired. This series wrap-up honors your hard work, dedication, and personal growth.*
